CAPABILITY · FORMULATION & DEVELOPMENT
Formulation and product development, in our own laboratory
From a brief to a stable, tested, documented formula: SudBio’s laboratory in Casablanca develops face, body, hair and hammam products built on Moroccan botanicals — for our own ranges, and for brands that want a product no one else sells.

A laboratory, not a catalogue of bases
Many contract manufacturers offer a list of ready-made bases to which a scent and a colour are added. SudBio formulates: our chemists start from the brief — the skin or hair concern, the texture, the hero ingredient, the claims, the market and its regulation — and build the formula, ingredient by ingredient, around the Moroccan botanicals we source and press ourselves.
That is how our own ranges were made since 2007 and how private label products are made today. The formula is tested for stability and for compatibility with the packaging it will live in, its microbiological preservation is challenged, and the documentation a product file needs is written as it goes — so the product can be notified and sold where you sell.
How a formula is developed
Brief
What the product must do, for whom, at what price, in which market. The claims you want to make decide the actives and the tests; the market decides the regulation we formulate to.
Formulation
Laboratory trials on the texture, the actives, the scent and the preservation system; lab samples sent to you to approve, and reworked until they are.
Stability and compatibility
The approved formula is aged in accelerated conditions and in its final packaging; its preservation is challenged. A formula that does not pass does not go to production.
Documentation
Formula, INCI list, safety data, test reports and the elements the product information file requires — for the EU, what your responsible person needs for the CPNP; for other markets, what their authority asks.
Scale-up
A pilot batch, then production under ISO 22716, with the formula and the specification frozen so every batch is the one you approved.
ManufacturingFROM BRIEF TO PRODUCTION
Five steps
- 01 BRIEF Concern, texture, actives, claims, market.
- 02 TRIALS Lab samples until approved.
- 03 TESTS Stability, compatibility, preservation.
- 04 DOSSIER The product file for your market.
- 05 PILOT & PRODUCTION Formula frozen, batches recorded.
Formulation — questions brands ask
Do you formulate from scratch or adapt existing formulas?
Both. A brand can start from one of our formulas (white label) or have one developed to its brief (private label). Many start with the first and move to the second.
How long does a development take?
It depends on the product and the number of rounds; stability testing alone takes weeks. A timeline comes with the quote, once the brief is clear.
Who owns the formula?
A formula developed to your brief is yours to sell under your brand; the terms are set in the development agreement.
Can you formulate for the EU regulation?
Yes. We formulate to the market you name — EU, UK, Gulf, North America — and prepare the documentation its authority requires.
Can you match a benchmark product?
We can develop towards a benchmark’s texture and performance with our own ingredients; we do not copy a formula.
